VICTORY OVER VIOLENCE

This media Initiative was launched in 2017, in partnership with News Director Austin Kellerman of Little Rock’s Channels 4 and 16, as a proactive response to the increasing incidence of violence and shootings in Central Arkansas. Ernie Paulson, the current News Director is carrying on the planning and implementation to help families and organizations in our community.

To date, the initiative has sponsored:

• 8 V.O.V. walks for peace in various neighborhoods to join together and build a sense of true “community”.

• 3 Mentoring Telethons on Channels 4 and 16 which enlisted over 315 Mentors for multiple Mentoring organizations.

• 60 special interest stories have been shared on Channels 4 and 16 to highlight the positive work going

on in the community through many service agencies and non-profits, and to encourage volunteering.

• These stories are shared on social media and are archived on the V.O.V. page located on Channel 4’s website at https://www.kark.com/victory-over-violence/. The volunteer application can be acquired by filling out the "Additional Information" box below.

• Two community-wide prayer meetings at War Memorial Stadium, and regular presentations at various gatherings and meetings to promote community engagement and the need for mentors.
